- Since 2004, chair of labour law and private law at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Munich, director of the Centre for Employment and Labour Law (Zentrum für Arbeitsbeziehungen und Arbeitsrecht (ZAAR)) at the LMU.
- 1998 to the beginning of 2004, Chair of Private Law, Labour Law, Commercial Law and Economic Law at Mannheim University.
- Extensive practical experience from management consultancy to conciliation (air traffic controllers’ industrial action), collective bargaining and works constitution disputes, the formation of European companies and expert opinions on legal questions.
- Numerous publications including a standard commentary on the Collective Agreement Act and commentaries in Staudinger, newspaper columns.
- Research is centred on collective labour law (collective bargaining law, industrial disputes law, works constitution law, co-determination), strategic structuring of employment and the developments in Labour Law 4.0 with emphasis on organization issues.
